Unbridled
Harlequin Blaze #483
August 2009
Tori Carrington

Unbridled takes Cater Southard, whom we meet in Branded back in June, and gives us a little more insight on him; giving him a story of his own. When we last left, Carter was in jail. As we meet up with him again he is still in jail, only he is sprung by Laney Cartwright, attorney at law. One look at her and Carter knows that Laney is way out of his league. She is upper class and he… well, he was definitely lower class. Nevertheless, when he needed an attorney to look at something for him who else does he call? The woman he has been thinking about the two months

Laney was shocked, and yet pleasantly surprised, that Carter had called. It was a pleasant distraction from the case that she was on. Devon MacGregor, from one of the wealthiest families in Texas, had been accused of murder in a convention store robbery. Now, Laney had received a note telling her to drop the MacGregor case. The police didn’t seem too concerned, that is until things begin to get more threatening. Carter, of course, doesn’t like it and wants to make sure this uptown girl gets help from the downtown boy.

Unbridled is a good name for this story; the passion in this story is just that– Unbridled. I really enjoyed the two characters in this story and the way they went together, even though they couldn’t really ‘be’ together. I have really enjoyed this series.
